Editorial Mazatlán has a limited
staff and can only read a small number of manuscripts at any time.
Before submitting a manuscript, please carefully review the existing
publication list, to confirm that your submission meets our general
needs. Always query before submitting any manuscript. Have
patience... we cannot always answer queries in less than a month.
WE PUBLISH NON-FICTION FOR GENERAL READERS.
We do not -- as a rule publish fiction or poetry, nor material not related to Mexico. We will consider fiction or academic research with Méxican subject or settings, but will read sample chapters and after an author's query.
We have published a book of essays
on living in Mexico, but are not publishing purely personal reflections
about "my life in Fulanatlan" or "blogs".
Presently, we are looking for
SHORT (under 40 pages, double spaced) manuscripts on the social history
of the Pacific ports for the "Ports of Call" series. We will accept
similar manuscripts dealing with the Caribbean and Gulf ports, but
cannot promise to look at them until at least October 2008.
Similarly short manuscripts on
practical issues for foreigners -- manners, social customs, business
relations -- are being considered: IF THEY ARE APPLICABLE TO ALL OF MEXICO, and not specific to one community or locale.
Also needed are "practical
Spanish" pamphlets -- a bi-lingual list of auto parts is in the works,
but we are interested in similar material.
Slightly longer manuscripts (under
150 pages double-spaced) on famous ex-pats and Mexican emigres -- like
Leona Carrington, or William Spratling -- or dealing with Mexican
historical figures of interest to English-speaking readers (like the
San Patricios) are also wanted at this time.
Use the form on the "Contact Us" page clearly outlining your proposed submission in the "comments" section.
